Dishonesty on Both Sides of Prop. 8's African American Support?

So I was pretty shocked when I found out that Prop. 8 had passed in California. I truly expected it to go down in flames, especially given the surge in Democratic turnout I expected due to Obama's campaign.

I was even more surprised, at first, to find that African American voters supported it by such large margins (I've read 70%). But what is most surprising is that people have apparently used that figure to 1. Trash the entire racial group, and 2. trash people legitimately criticizing those black voters that supported the proposition.

Doing either of these things is wrong.

Obama, the Rules, and his supporters

So from what I can tell the new line of attack from the hope and unity crowd is that Hillary should quit because its over, remaining in the race is a vanity ploy, or makes her a "psychotic girlfriend" and is nothing more than a devious attempt to "change the rules."

Jerome's front page story commenting on the media's unprecedented injection of itself into the race is interesting, but the blame doesn't really lay with the media but rather with Obama, his campaign, its surrogates and supporters.

If you're arguing over decimals, that means you lost

So the line I'm seeing desperately thrown around today is that Hillary's win wasn't "really" double digits because if you look at the decimals and you don't round the numbers properly and you use the returns before the tally is final, well then its less than 10%. First, that's a lot of ifs, second, Hillary's margin will likely be 10% when the vote is final if you do the rounding the way you're supposed to in math, and third, if you're arguing about decimal points, you probably should stop and realize that means your candidate got blown away. Now, for a reality check on rounding...

Hillary's Hospital "lie": The further disintegration of Obama Fans

So today Hillary has supposedly been shown to have "lied" about a story regarding a hospital and a mother in Ohio. Hillary was told this story by a deputy sherriff who knew members of the woman's family. She was told how the woman, pregnant and in need of healthcare was denied the help she needed because she had not insurance and couldn't pay $100 fee necessary to be seen without insurance.

Hillary never mentioned the woman's name or the hospital's name in her telling of the story.

Today, the hospital, apparently in an effort to defend its honorable name (which is curious since Hillary never named them) has declared that the woman was never denied care. That she was given the red carpet treatment and Hillary is a big fat liar.

an outsiders view of hackett v brown

This is my first diary, in fact, I just registered even though I've been reading MyDD, DailyKos, SSP, and TPM since about January 2004. I was inspired to register and post by the discussion regarding the Ohio senate race.

To be honest, I've been a fan of Jerome and Kos for months, and Sherrod Brown may very well be the best candidate to take on DeWine, but the idea that Tim Tagaris and Jerome should post on this race with the same authority as others is preposteris.
